Area students have received scholarships to pursue higher education in agriculture.
Compeer Financial has handed out 105 $2,000 scholarships across Wisconsin, Illinois, and Minnesota, 35 of which hail from the Dairy State.
Of those 35 recipients from Wisconsin, five scholarships were awarded to area seniors set to pursue a degree in an agriculture-related field.
Those recipients include Macie Abraham of Plymouth, Sheboygan’s Alison Gartman, Weston Huenink from Cedar Grove, Caiden Kohlman of Chilton, and Dylan Ryan out of Fond du Lac.
On the $210,000 handed out in agriculture scholarships, Karen Schieler, manager of Compeer Giving, stated, “Compeer is committed to sustaining agriculture and our rural communities, and the next generation is integral to supporting and expanding industries that contribute to a dynamic, collaborative, and thriving rural environment.”
This year’s recipients excelled academically, posting an average GPA of 3.9, with 70% also taking part in their local FFA chapters.
