The Manitowoc County Parkinson’s Disease Support Group is gearing up for another year of fundraising for the neurological disease.
The 4th Annual “Promenade the Park for Parkinson’s Awareness” takes place on April 25th from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. in Washington Park, rain or shine.
Secretary Allen Brixius explained during a city council meeting last week that there will be tables set up for registration and information, including the YMCA’s Rock Steady Boxing Program.
There will also be an opportunity to purchase raffle tickets for a chance to win a Parkinson’s themed wooden bench chairs with a center table.
Students from Roncalli High School’s Lasallian Student Youth Group will be on hand to help.
Participants will walk. Brixius also reminds those interested that all the money raised stays in the county.
Parkinson’s Disease is a disorder of the central nervous system that affects movements and causes dopamine levels to drop.
There is no cure for the disease, and while it’s not directly fatal, it can cause life-threatening complications.
