The man who was behind the wheel of the tour bus that crashed in Green Bay has been released on bond.
Ghebry Figueroa has been officially charged with two counts of Knowingly Operating a Motor Vehicle While Revoked, Causing Great Bodily Harm, and one count of Operating a Commercial Motor Vehicle While Disqualified, and posted his $5,000 bond.
WBAY reports that Figueroa told investigators that the brakes failed as he took the I-43 off-ramp at Webster Avenue, causing the bus to jump the curb, strike a snowbank, and finally come to a stop between two warehouse buildings.
36 of the 54 passengers were initially transported to four local hospitals with a variety of injuries, but the total number of injured passengers rose to 41 yesterday.
Figueroa passed a field sobriety test, with a breath test coming back clean, and he consented to a blood draw.
He also reportedly admitted to police that he knew he was driving without a valid license, leading to the charges.
Figueroa is due back in court on April 1st.
