A Grand Chute man tried to use snow to put out a fire over the weekend.
The Grand Chute Fire Department was called to the 4200 block of North McCarthy Road Sunday evening on a report of a fire inside a detached garage.
It was learned that a piece of equipment had caught fire, and the homeowner was using snow to try to control the blaze.
Crews arrived and quickly extinguished the fire, which caused some smoke damage to the garage.
There was very little structural damage reported.
The Grand Chute Fire Department remained on scene for about an hour investigating and helping with cleanup, but no cause has been determined.
The Department encourages all homeowners to have an easily accessible fire extinguisher in their home, garage, and workshop for instances such as this.
