March is Disability Awareness Month, and to celebrate the occasion, a local state senator spent some time at a center in Chilton.
Sen. Andre Jacque visited New Hope Center to witness firsthand the role that community organizations play in supporting individuals with disabilities.
Reflecting on his visit, Se. Jacque told SeehaferNews.com, “I am grateful to all who serve our disabled neighbors within the community, and appreciate the important role organizations such as the New Hope Center play in improving the quality of life for vulnerable populations.”
Sen. Jacque has crafted several bills to support those with disabilities, including Assembly Bill 19, which increases protections for at-risk adults.
He was also instrumental in the creation of Achieving a Better Life Experience (ABLE) accounts for Wisconsin, establishing training requirements for guardians of incapacitated adults, and making the reporting of abuse related to adults with disabilities mandatory.
