Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints” (Psalm 116:15)
In true Wisconsin fashion, Doris Mae Schwarzenbart (97) of Manitowoc passed away on Sunday, March 15, 2026, amidst a good ole’ fashioned blizzard.
Doris was born in Two Rivers on July 22, 1928. She graduated from St. Luke’s School and Two Rivers High School (class of 1946). She enjoyed babysitting, working at Holy Family Hospital, Kresge’s Store and Commonwealth Telephone of Two Rivers. In 1952, she married Frederick Schwarzenbart and the couple made Manitowoc their home. Doris was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and follower of Jesus. She was also a big fan of the Chicago Cubs and Green Bay Packers! She loved being a mom, knitting, crocheting, needle point, cooking, singing in the parish choir, praying for her family and friends, and keeping everything going with God’s help. She was a member of St. Andrews Catholic Church now known as St. Francis of Assisi (on Grand). For Doris, as with the Apostle Paul, “to live was Christ and to die was gain.” (Philippians 1:21) Today, Doris is with her Savior and Lord.
Doris is survived by her children: Peter (Sheri) of Green Bay, Paul (Cheryl) of Reedsburg, LuAnne Hurst of Kansas City, Teresa Ayling of Minneapolis, Jay (Becky) of Sheboygan, John (Amy) of Green Bay, Mark (Sue) of Two Rivers, Fred, known as Joel, of Kansas; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband: Frederick; parents: Frank and Anna Simono; sisters: Agnes, Jane, Ruth, Marge; brothers: Paul and Fr. Bud “Francis”; son-in-law: Steve; and grandson: Mark.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 27, 2026 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Parish on Grand Avenue, 1416 Grand Avenue, Manitowoc. Rev. Doug LeCaptain will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial. Entombment will follow at Calvary Mausoleum. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass at 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Parish.
