Emplify Health is praising the state legislature for the passage of Gail’s Law.
Governor Tony Evers signed the bill into law this week, ensuring the nearly 40 percent of women who have dense breast tissue (which can obscure tumors on traditional mammograms) will be able to receive the necessary supplemental screenings at no cost-share, marking a significant stride in early cancer detection and prevention.
Heather Schimmers, RN, MBA, and President of Emplify Health called the law “a crucial step forward in ensuring women receive the right care at the right time without the burden of additional costs or the stress that comes with it.”
Breast cancer remains one of the most common cancers among women, and early detection is key to reducing mortality.
Schimmers also noted, “Traditional mammograms, while effective for many, can miss tumors hidden within dense tissue, delaying diagnosis and treatment. Gail’s Law addresses this critical gap.”
