Wisconsin’s Senate Majority Leader has made an announcement about his political future.
In a press release, Senator Devin LeMahieu announced that after a lot of careful reflection and prayer, he had decided to not seek reelection to Wisconsin’s 9th Senate District.
Sen. LeMahieu called his time serving in the state senate, “the privilege of a lifetime and I’m proud of our accomplishments.”
He specifically mentioned the passing of the REINS Act becoming “model legislation in statehouses across the country” and enacting the “two largest income tax cuts in state history, despite divided government.”
Now, Wisconsin’s Senate Majority Leader wants to start a new chapter in life which includes spending more time with his wife in their new Madison-area home and root for bold-conservative reform from the sidelines.
Sen. LeMahieu finished by thanking the people of Manitowoc, Sheboygan, Calumet, and Fond du Lac Counties for their trust and to his countless colleagues and staff who made it an unforgettable journey.
The Oostburg Republican first became a state senator in 2015 and has served as Majority Leader since 2020.
Previously, Sen. LeMahieu was a member of the Sheboygan County Board.
