Several local law enforcement and EMS agencies are assisting in an open water search for a possible drowning victim in Lake Michigan near Hika Bay Park in the Village of Cleveland. Manitowoc County Sheriff Deputy Inspector Jason Orth says shortly after 6:30 last evening the Joint Dispatch Center received a report of a person appearing to be in distress. Witnesses observed the subject go under without resurfacing. An approximate six-hour search for the victim was unsuccessful. A preliminary investigation revealed that an unoccupied vehicle located in the parking area at Hika Bay Park suggests the registered owner may be the victim. The Manitowoc County SCUBA team continues to search for the victim this afternoon.
