Ruth Gertrude (Karstaedt) Csida Meier, 96, of Kaukauna formerly of Manitowoc passed away on Monday, March 9, 2026 at St. Paul Home in Kaukauna.
Ruth was born on December 26, 1929 in the town of Newton to Otto and Ida (Heckmann) Karstaedt. On November 3, 1951, she married Jerome Csida, he preceded her in death in 1990. On April 12, 2003, she married John “Jack” Meier, he preceded her in death in 2010. Ruth worked at Ariens in Brillion for 15 years, and then at the New Hope Center in Chilton for 17 years, until her retirement.
Ruth was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church and was also a member of the Happy Hoppers. She enjoyed playing cards, crocheting, gardening, cooking and baking and spending time with family.
Ruth is survived by her children: Cheryl (Randall) Welch, Tucson, AZ and Jason (Vicki) Csida, Appleton; grandchildren: Clayton (Danielle) Welch, Natalie Welch, Travis (Jaime) Welch, Ryan Csida, and Lucas Csida; great-grandchildren: Anne, Elijah, Jane, Matthew, James, and Marie; step children: Ken (Patricia) Meier, Irving, TX, Raphael “Ray” (Julianna) Meier, Houston, TX, Joy (Thomas) Kearney, Martinez, CA, and Thomas (Kate) Meier, Dalton, OH; 12 step grandchildren; 18 step-great grandchildren; and three sisters-in-law: Judith Karstaedt, Mabel Meier, and Dorothy Labitzky. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents: Otto and Ida Karstaedt; two husbands: Jerome Csida and John “Jack” Meier; son: Jeffrey; four sisters and brothers-in-law: Verna (Walter) Oehlridch, Dorothy (Gilbert) Wenzel, Olive (Elmer) Keppen, and Almira (Clarence) Free; four brothers: Gilbert, Clinton, Milton (Margene), and Donald Karstaedt.
A funeral service to celebrate Ruth’s life will be held on Thursday, March 19, 2026 at 11:00 am at the Pfeffer Funeral Home, 928 S.14th Street, with Rev. Melso officiating. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Thursday, March 19, 2026 at the funeral home from 9:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 am. Ruth will be laid to rest at St. John St. James Cemetery in Reedsville.
