Lane closures will begin this week in Sheboygan County amid a major road construction project.
The Department of Transportation has announced that major traffic pattern changes will be hitting interstate 43 on Thursday (March 19th).
Long-term, single lane closures will go into effect on 43’s northbound lane from State Highway 28 to State Highway 42, while southbound closures will run along the same stretch of the interstate.
Likewise, a 14-foot width restriction will be implemented on the structures above State Highway 23 for the duration of the work.
While the single-lane closures in these locations will not last for the entire duration of the construction project, motorists will experience reduced lanes in both directions at various locations within the work zone until fall, when the project is scheduled to be completed.
All future closures and traffic impacts will be announced ahead of time by the Wisconsin DOT.
This months-long construction will span approximately 10 miles on I-43 from Wilson/Lime Road in the Town of Wilson to Highway 42 in the Town of Sheboygan and passes through the Village of Kohler and the City of Sheboygan.
