
The Reedsville Panthers boys basketball team will make just its second state appearance Friday morning after defeating Tigerton 56 to 45 in a WIAA Division Five
The sectional final that was played at Oconto Falls on Saturday afternoon.
Tigerton led 33 to 28 at halftime as the Tigers’ 6-foot-10-inch junior center James Brady had 18 points at the break.
Reedsville went on a 7-to-nothing run to begin the second half, capped by a Jack Schwann three-point basket to take a 35-to-33 lead.
The Tigers would tie the game at 37, but would get no closer as Reedsville turned it up defensively, holding the Tigers to just eight points the rest of the game, and sealed the victory by hitting eight of nine free throws down the stretch.
Jack Schwann made five three-point baskets and led Reedsville in scoring with 21 points, while James Brady led the Tigers and all scorers with 28 points.
Reedsville improves to 26-3 as they’ll make their first appearance at the state tournament since winning it all in 1946, while Tigerton finishes their season with a record of 28-1.
The Panthers will play a WIAA Division Five state semifinal next Friday morning (March 20th) at either 9:05 or approximately 10:45 a.m.
Seeding will be held for all five divisions on Sunday (tomorrow).
