The high winds today were not only a hazard to drivers on the road, but they also caused a potentially deadly situation for Sheboygan pedestrians.
The Sheboygan Fire Department was dispatched to the 1000 block of South 8th Street just after 1:00 p.m. on a report of bricks falling from a building.
It was determined that the high winds had caused a portion of the roof to be ripped off the west side of a building, resulting in debris falling to the ground.
The roof was hanging from the structure, so the Fire and Police Departments teamed up to secure the area and ensure everyone had evacuated safely.
Contractors and building inspectors were brought in to assess the extent of the damage and determined that there was no structural damage to the building.
No injuries were reported, but six people were displaced from their residences as a result.
Residents are being asked to avoid the area, and vehicles are being detoured.
