
Lakeland University has honored two of its students for their work in the Cooperative Education program.
Lakeland has awarded its annual Experiential Learner of the Year Awards to seniors Katelyn Kitsembel and Jacob Bennin. Bennin, from Chilton, is majoring in food safety and quality and won the award for the university’s online student population.
Kitsembel, from Lake Mills, is pursuing a degree in exercise science and has received the award for the on-campus student population.
Through Lakeland’s Co-Op Program, she works at ATI Physical Therapy in Sheboygan, earning valuable work experience while gaining college credit towards her degree.
Upon graduation, she is set to join Northwestern University’s highly regarded Doctor of Physical Therapy program.
Bennin has been a part of the Sargento Cheese team for over eight years and currently works as an operational quality specialist – incoming inspector.
Upon receiving his degree, he intends to stay with Sargento to continue his work of ensuring materials consistently meet quality and safety standards.
