A Manitowoc man, believed to be under the influence of drugs, asked to be arrested and then spat at police.
The Manitowoc Police Department was called to the 3100 block of Yorkshire Lane on a report of someone breaking into a vehicle just before 1:00 Tuesday morning (March 10th).
However, when they arrived, there was no damage to the vehicle in question.
The officer spoke to the caller, but they could not find anyone in the area matching the description he offered.
Then, about an hour later, the same man called 911 and hung up while a second call came in reporting an individual was trying to enter the Lakeside Foods building.
Officers responded to the main entrance in the 1600 block of South 30th Street, where they located 45-year-old Gregory Hauschultz, the same man who called in the vehicle break-in and hung up on 911 dispatchers.
When they approached Hauschultz, he took off his shirt, laid down on the blacktop, and claimed someone was following him.
After initially saying he was comfortable on the ground, the officers were able to convince him to stand up, which is when he claimed someone held him at gunpoint, and then he laid back down on the ground, saying he wanted to be taken into custody.
The officer complied and took him into custody, noting that they believed Hauschultz was under the influence of some sort of substance.
As they brought him to the Manitowoc County Jail, Hauschultz flipped himself upside down in the back of the squad car and resisted as they tried to get him out of the car.
He allegedly slammed his head on the concrete floor and spat at the officers.
He was eventually booked into jail on charges of Resisting, Discharging Bodily Fluids, and Misdemeanor Bail Jumping.
His bond has not yet been posted on CCAP, but his initial appearance has been scheduled for Monday in Branch 4.
