The City of Manitowoc’s Fire Chief is set to retire later this year, and his successor has been named.
Chief Todd Blaser has served in the role for the past 17 years and will enter the retirement phase of his life on May 26th.
This will conclude a long and respected career, which the City noted was marked by “dedication to public safety, leadership development, and community service.”
The Manitowoc Police and Fire Commission has named Assistant Chief Benjamin Kraynek as the next Fire Chief, specifically pointing to his 25 years of experience with the Manitowoc Fire Rescue Department as a key factor in the decision.
Commission President Michael Wellner also noted, “Ben Kraynek has earned the respect of his colleagues and the confidence of this Commission. His experience, education, and commitment to the community make him exceptionally well‑prepared to lead the Manitowoc Fire Rescue Department into the future.”
Kraynek will officially take over the role on May 30th.
