Sheboygan’s Department of Public Works is reminding residents about an upcoming cleanup project.
The department has shared that all winter decorations at Wildwood Cemetery must be removed by April 1st.
After that date, all items left in the cemetery will be removed and disposed of by Sheboygan’s DPW.
Throughout the month of April, crews will be working to beautify Wildwood Cemetery and ensure that it is in suitable condition for the spring. In an effort to keep the grounds looking as pristine as possible, residents are asked not to place any spring decorations by gravestones until May 1st.
Come the 1st of May, the DPW is also reminding the public that flowerbeds are allowed, however, tall perennials, thorny plants, glass items, or fences are not permitted.
Additionally, gravestones are permitted to have two solar-powered lights, and any flags placed must be at least 12 inches off the ground.
Regarding the spring cleanup, the DPW stated, “The Cemetery Division asks for your help in clearing all winter decorations to help maintain the beauty of Wildwood Cemetery…With over 25,000 graves to maintain, the support of families who observe the cemetery rules is greatly appreciated.”
Anyone regarding the cleanup at Wildwood Cemetery is asked to contact the DPW by calling 920-459-3440.
