A Green Bay landlord has settled a lawsuit filed against him regarding the sexual harassment of a tenant.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Wisconsin has announced that landlord David Jones and D Jones Properties LLC will pay $50,000 to the tenant to resolve the lawsuit.
The lawsuit, filed in July of last year, alleged that Jones “engaged in severe, pervasive, and unwelcome sexual harassment of a female tenant by, among other things, making unwelcome sexual comments, grabbing the tenant without her consent, entering the tenant’s home without her permission, and moving to evict her when she asserted her rights under the FHA.”
Likewise, U.S. Attorney Brad D. Schimel added, “No one should have to endure sexual harassment to keep a roof over their head.”
In addition to the cash payout for the victim of his sexual harassment, Jones was also ordered to attend fair housing training and is subject to just two years of monitoring by the U.S. Justice Department.
However, despite his history of sexually harassing tenants, Jones was still allowed to be a landlord in the Green Bay area.
