Two men have been sentenced for a fatal drug overdose death in Fond du Lac County.
District Attorney Eric Toney stated that 46-year-old Larry Plummer and 43-year-old Adrian Santiago-Hernandez were sentenced last Friday.
Judge Laura Levy sentenced Plummer to 10 years in prison, followed by 10 years of extended supervision for 2nd-degree reckless homicide, while Judge Andrew Christenson sentenced Santiago-Hernandez to one year of prison and eight years of extended supervision for 1st-degree reckless homicide.
Toney noted that Santiago-Hernandezs’ cooperation at the time of his arrest and throughout the case led to his reduced sentence and allowed his department to convict Plummer, who was the source of the drugs and higher in the chain of delivery.
City of Fond du Lac Police were called to the 200 block of E. Division Street back in August 2023 for an overdose.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene and was found to have cocaine, fentanyl, trazodone, and other drugs in their system.
After looking through phone records, detectives found out that Santiago-Hernandez and the victim met up and did drugs together.
The 43-year-old also admitted to using them with the person and said he bought the drugs from Plummer.
The 46-year-old was arrested and taken into custody.
DA Toney said he hopes the sentences for both provide a deterrent to help save lives and lead others to seek treatment before death affects their own lives.
