Dane County leaders are pushing to update safety guidelines on frozen lakes.
The Land and Water Resources Department voted this week to move an ordinance forward that would require people driving recreational vehicles on frozen lakes to wear a flotation device.
The department noted it has been working alongside the Dane County Sheriff’s Office and members of the public as the ordinance was drafted.
Public comment is still being accepted, and a draft will be made available once the ordinance is introduced to the county board.
