A pilot who left Madison is dead after crashing their plane in Illinois.
.Authorities in the neighboring state say the plane went down Wednesday night in an unincorporated area north of Chicago, leaving the pilot dead.
The plane had departed from Dane County Regional Airport and crashed into the roof of a townhome.
Nobody on the ground was hurt, and officials noted there was no major damage to homes.
It’s unclear if the pilot was from Wisconsin, and they haven’t been identified as of yet.
