The numbers are in for the Sheboygan County Food Bank’s past year of work.
The Food Bank has released its 2025 Annual Report, outlining just how impactful they were in the calendar year.
In total, the Food Bank distributed just shy of 1.1 million pounds of food last year, with nearly half of that made up of fresh foods, such as produce, dairy, and meat.
64% of that food distributed came from food drives and drop-off donations from organizations, individuals, and businesses throughout the county, along with community-wide food drives like Making Spirits Bright.
Another major aspect of the Food Bank’s year was the uncertain times in October when the Trump Administration said it was withholding the November funding for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), making thousands in the county, primarily children, uncertain about if they would have food on their plates in the coming weeks.
However, rallying around this uncertainty, the community stepped up in a major way to fill the gaps left by the potential lack of funding from the federal government.
The Food Bank stated, “What became clear was that when the path felt uncertain, our community responded with compassion and care that carried us forward and reminded us what is possible together.”
