After a fight broke out at the Manitowoc Warming Shelter, one of the individuals involved had his bond set.
38-year-old Justin P. Kelliher was given a $200 cash bail yesterday (March 2nd) by Court Commissioner Jewel Scharenbroch.
This comes as Kelliher has been charged with Disorderly Conduct, Resisting an Officer, and two counts of Felony Bail Jumping. Police were called to the Warming Center on Saturday evening (February 28th) on a report of a physical altercation.
The police report noted that the 38-year-old refused to comply with the officer’s orders until their tasers were drawn, but continued to resist once placed in handcuffs.
Pastor Matthew Sauer with the Warming Shelter informed SeehaferNews.com that the two men involved had arrived at the shelter already intoxicated, and added, “The actions of these individuals do not represent what happens at the shelter. Additional steps are being taken, in partnership with local enforcement, to ensure this doesn’t happen again.”
Additional terms of Kelliher’s bond include no abusive or assaultive contact with the other individual, and he must maintain absolute sobriety.
He will return to Manitowoc County court on Monday at 1:30 p.m. for his initial appearance.
The other man involved in the fight was arrested, however, it appears no charges were filed.
