
Seniors Max Matthias and Angie Bianchi of Two Rivers and senior Emjay Neumann of Manitowoc Lincoln will wrestle for state titles Saturday night at the WIAA State Individual Championships at the Kohl Center in Madison.
Bianchi, with a record of 28 and 0, goes for her third consecutive state title at 120 pounds against Daelin Cody, a sophomore from Princeton Green Lake, who is undefeated in 50 matches this season. Max Mathhias takes a 32- 0 record into the Division Two championship match at 215 pounds against senior Garrett Kawczynski of Port Washington, who hasn’t lost in 39 matches.
Manitowoc Lincoln senior Emjay Neumann wrestles for a state title at 114 pounds. She takes a 45- 3 record into her match with senior Taylor Whiting of Lena, who is 18- 0.
Whiting, who’s ranked first nationally at 114 pounds, is looking to win her fourth straight state championship.
If she were to win, she’d join her brother Clayton to become the first brother-sister duo to each win four state titles. The March of Champions begins at 5:30 p.m. with wrestling to follow.
