
Several area high school wrestlers will be moving on to the next round of the WIAA state finals.
In Division three, Mishicot’s Parker Tulachka fell by a score of 17-0 to Zach Hellendrung of Boyceville in the second round of the 285-pound weight class, while his fellow teammate Owen Schacht will move to wrestle Sawyer Ebner of Cameron in the 190-pound weight class.
Schacht defeated Conner Mannel of Weyauwega-Fremont to advance.
Three wrestlers advanced for Brillion, including Weston Schmidt who defeated Jake Kramer of Prairie du Chien and Max Peterson of Lena using three takedowns to win 10-6.
Colton Klug of Brillion got a first-round bye and defeated Mason Hird of Prairie du Chien to advance.
He will face Benjamin Miller of Wittenberg-Birnamwood in the next round in the 150-pound weight class.
In the 126-pound weight class, Parker Spierings also had a 1st-round bye and later defeated Holdyn Volkman of Shiocton 13-3.
He will wrestle Liam Carey of Mineral Point tonight. Valder’s wrestler Kolten Schisel falls in his first round of wrestling to Ryker Schingeck of Wabeno/Laona/Three Lakes.
He will take on Wyatt Anderson of Cadott at 10:00 this morning.
Tristen Verbeten of Reedsville won his first wrestling match 17-6 against Marcus Klar of Aquanis but fell to Logan Peterson of Cumberland 5-4.
He will get a 1st round bye and will take on another opponent at 2:30 this afternoon.
In Division Two, Max Mathias of Two Rivers gets a first-round bye and then defeats Leland Havens of Mount Horeb/Barnaveld 4-1 in the 215-pound weight class.
He takes on Preston Krueger of New London at 7:00 p.m. tonight.
A different story for Derek Klinkner of Two Rivers as he falls to Nolan Larsen of Denmark after Klinkner got a 1st-round bye in the 165-pound weight class.
He will take on Cole Berth of Coleman this afternoon. Logan Schad of Kiel will advance to wrestle today, however fellow teammate, Logan Kautzer, fell to William Christopher of New London in the 1st round yesterday.
Kiel’s Brady Keinbaum and Logan Kautzer also do not make it out of the first round. For Denmark, Nolan Larsen will wrestle today after defeating Klinkner in the 165-pound weight class.
Dominic Swetlik did not advance out of the first round, while Cullen Zellner and Steven Keilpikowski won their 1st match but could not complete their second.
For the girls wrestling, Two Rivers’ Angie Bianchi will advance to wrestle today after defeating Monseratt Hernandez of Kenosha Bradford and Tessay York of Cadott.
She will take on Cora Steward of Port Washington tonight in the 120-pound weight class.
Emjay Neumann of Manitowoc Lincoln will also advance tonight to wrestle in the 114-pound weight class.
She defeated Addyson Allsop of Prescott and Jasmin Grandos of Kenosha Bradford to advance.
She will take Devlynn Albrecht of Milton tonight at 7:00 p.m.
