Several local and area teams take to the court tonight as the WIAA Girls Basketball Tournament resumes with regional semifinals being played throughout the state.
In Division One, Manitowoc Lincoln heads to Milwaukee to battle Divine Savior Holy Angels, Sheboygan North hosts Homestead, De Pere hosts D.C. Everest, and Bay Port entertains the Green Bay Preble Hornets.
In Division Four, top-seed Manitowoc Lutheran begins its quest for state as they host The Southern Door Eagles. The Lancers won 20 games during the regular season for a third straight year, a program record, accomplishing the feat with solid offensive production and a 1-3-1 zone designed to speed up the game and force turnovers that they then turn into points on the scoreboard.
Southern Door comes to Lancer Circle fresh off a 59-57 victory over Mishicot Tuesday night. Senior Alanah Kaye and junior Kyleigh Claflin combined for 44 of the Eagles’ 59 points as they look to pull off a major upset and advance to the regional final tomorrow night.

Valders, fresh off a 60-27 victory over Roncalli Tuesday night, travels to Kewaunee to battle the Storm. Senior guard Megan Hockammer scored 38 points against the Jets in becoming the program’s all-time leading scorer. Senior Zoey Siders can also fill it up from three-point land, shooting nearly 44.5% from beyond the arc.
The Storm went undefeated in Packerland conference play and had a first-round bye. They sport a talented and deep roster that has hopes of making a deep postseason run.
This is the third straight year the Vikings and Storm have met in the playoffs, all in Kewaunee, with Valders winning a regional title in overtime two years ago and the Storm winning in the regionals last season.
