A fire in a Fond du Lac home was partially contained thanks to the damage it caused.
FOX11 reports that the Fond du Lac Fire Department was called to the 150 block of Forest Avenue at around 8:30 Wednesday morning on a report of a house fire.
Upon their arrival, crews noted seeing smoke coming from the front door and quickly determined that the fire had started in the kitchen.
The heat from the blaze melted a water line, which burst, and actually helped contain the flames to that area.
The kitchen area suffered moderate damage while the rest of the home sustained some smoke damage, leaving the residence uninhabitable.
No one was home at the time, but a cat did need to be rescued and has since been returned to the owners.
The American Red Cross is assisting the family while investigators have yet to determine the cause of the fire.
