A Manitowoc man charged with pointing a gun at someone has gotten his cash bail changed to a signature bond.
Court records show that 37-year-old Daniel Meuret was back in court on Monday (February 23rd), where he waived the reading of the criminal complaint and demanded a preliminary hearing.
Meuret then told Judge Robert Dewane that he wished to argue his own bond motion.
Dewane then had a conversation with the 37-year-old regarding his financial situation before the victim, on Zoom, said that the cash bail is unreasonably set and that she would be fine with him being released from custody.
Judge Dewane then amended Meuret’s bond to a $5,000 signature bond and also changed some conditions of his bond to have no abusive or assaultive contact with the victim.
He will return to court on March 12th for his preliminary hearing.
Manitowoc Police had to set up a perimeter in the area of Columbus, S. 17th, and S. 15th Streets as officers tried to get Meuret to come out of a home.
He would eventually come out without further incident.
However, a criminal complaint says the 37-year-old pointed a gun at the victim’s head and then pushed them to the ground.
