An employee at a Door County resort is being praised for their quick thinking during a fire.
The Egg Harbor Fire Department was dispatched to the Landmark Resort Pilot Building at 4929 Landmark Drive yesterday on a report of smoke in the fitness room.
A Door County Sheriff’s Deputy was first on the scene, and he learned that a maintenance employee at the resort had found a fire inside a light fixture and on the wall, and immediately used a pair of fire extinguishers to put it out.
Egg Harbor Firefighters checked the building for any extension, but could not find any.
They also determined that the fire caused an estimated $100,000 in damage, and while the investigation is still ongoing, it was not believed to be suspicious.
No injuries were reported.
