
The victim of an Appleton fire that claimed a life has been identified.
The Appleton Police Department has announced that 86-year-old Ronnie McIntire passed away as a result of the fire that took place on February 18th in the 3000 block of North Meade Street.
McIntire made the call reporting the fire from inside the home, and when fire crews arrived, they found the 86-year-old.
He would be removed from the home, treated on scene, and transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
On the passing of McIntire, the Appleton Police Department stated, “Ronnie holds a special place in the heart of the Appleton Police Department. After serving in the United States Marine Corps, he served 36 years as an Appleton Police officer, retiring in 1999 as a Lieutenant.”
At this time, the investigation into the fire, which caused an additional $80,000 in damage, remains ongoing.
Appleton Police closed their statement by extending their deepest condolences to the family and friends of McIntire during this difficult time.
