The person who allegedly destroyed an ice sculpture in Appleton has turned themselves in.
A sculpture that was part of the Avenue of Ice Carvings event was pushed over, causing it to break.
The sculpture belonged to the Center for Suicide Awareness and depicted a pair of hands making a heart symbol.
The organization noted, “This sculpture represented connection, compassion, and the reminder that no one has to struggle alone. If this situation reflects someone who is hurting, we truly hope they receive the support they need.”
The identity of the individual was not released.
The Center for Suicide Awareness thanked everyone who helped search for the culprit, saying, “We are grateful to Appleton Downtown for standing alongside us and for their sincere apology to our organization and the community. We also deeply appreciate Krystal Kleer Ice Sculptures for attempting to repair the piece at their shop. While there are no guarantees it can be restored, their willingness to try means a great deal.”
