The City of Two Rivers Fire Department is reminding residents to burn smart as the weather gets warmer.
The department explained that fire must be located a minimum of 20 feet from structures and property lines and must be contained in a below-ground fire pit or an approved portable fire pit.
Portable fire pits must be placed on a noncombustible surface.
Firefighters also said that only clean, dry, untreated wood may be burned and must always be attended to.
There should also be a water source or a fire extinguisher ready.
