As the Manitowoc Public School District embarks on a complete rebranding effort, the students are being placed front and center.
Last year, the district announced that, on top of the consolidation efforts next school year, all schools in the district would be brought under the “Ships” branding of Manitowoc Lincoln High School.
As a part of that rebranding, the MPSD has announced “Students at the Helm: The Ships Logo Project.”
This initiative invites student designers to help create the next generation of district branding, ensuring it reflects the creativity, pride, and spirit of the Manitowoc community.
Student designs should be inspired by Manitowoc’s lakeshore heritage and work within professional design standards and real-world parameters.
Students are also being asked to create a primary and a secondary branding element, which may be refined and potentially adopted for official district use.
Superintendent Lee Thennes explained, “This is more than a logo project. It is an opportunity for our students to help define who we are as a district. They are gaining meaningful, real-world experience in design, collaboration, and creative problem-solving. At the same time, they are contributing something lasting to our schools and community. That combination makes this project incredibly powerful.”
