First responders are praising the work of a Good Samaritan neighbor for their actions during a fire in Fond du Lac County late last week.
WBAY reports that first responders were called to a home on Van Dyne Road in the Town of Friendship at around 6:30 Friday evening on a report of a house fire.
A neighbor who called it in told dispatchers that they were informed of the blaze by the homeowners, who saw smoke on their security cameras.
The neighbor acted quickly, opening the door and getting several canines out of the residence. Firefighters from Van Dyne and North Fond du Lac responded to the scene and extinguished the blaze.
It was determined that a dehumidifier had melted, causing it to catch fire, but the flames were contained to that appliance.
The basement did suffer minor damage from soot and smoke, while the main living area suffered some minor smoke damage.
No injuries were reported.
