
Boats using the Manitowoc Rivers brought in more products to area companies than what left.
The City of Manitowoc’s Department of Public Infrastructure released its 2025 dockwall reports for the Manitowoc harbor as well as the 8th and 10th Street bridges.
It documents the quantity, general origin, and destination of all cargo that moved over the Manitowoc docks used by St. Mary’s Cement, Kone Crane, Trans-Link, Spring Street Dock, Briess Malt, and the Burger Boat Company.
This year, St. Mary’s Cement received a shipment of over 155,000 tons.
Kone Cranes sent out one of its big blue cranes, weighing 1,200 tons, while Spring Street Dock saw a shipment of Armor Sone inbound, weighing 8,860 tons.
In total, over 185,000 tons of materials came in and out of the Manitowoc harbor, which is up from 133,000 in 2024.
However, those numbers are way down compared to 2023, when over 314,000 tons of materials came through.
Other statistics show that the Burger Boat Company had three inbound vessels with one outbound last year for refit and repair.
The SS Badger completed 207 one-way trips to Manitowoc from Ludington, carrying 37,869 passengers and over 14,254 vehicles.
Trips from Ludington to Manitowoc had 34,431 passengers and 13,076 vehicles last year.
The number of times the 8th Street bridge was lifted was slightly down, from 295 in 2024 to 293 in 2025.
That’s the same for the 10th Street bridge, which was lifted 280 times in 2024 and 278 times in 2025.
