
The man charged in connection with a fatal stabbing in an Oshkosh park last year has been convicted.
20-year-old Daunte Riley was in court yesterday (February 18th), where he pleaded guilty to a charge of 1st Degree Reckless Homicide in the killing of Walter Brooks in Menominee Park, while a charge of Disorderly Conduct was dismissed but read into the record.
The incident occurred in the evening hours of July 5th, 2025.
Several people, including Riley and Brooks, were gathered outside the park when a physical altercation broke out.
The situation escalated, leading to Riley pulling out a knife and stabbing Brooks multiple times. Brooks attempted to flee in a vehicle but crashed and died at the scene.
Riley was arrested shortly after.
He is due back in court on May 7th for his sentencing, where he faces life imprisonment.
