For the fourth year in a row, the Plymouth School District is looking to collect donations for community members facing hunger.
The district has announced that the fourth annual Plymouth School District Cereal Box Domino Challenge officially opened on Monday (February 16th).
Over the next three weeks, all five public schools in the district, along with St. John the Baptist and St. John Lutheran Schools, will be competing to see who can collect the most boxes of unopened, non-expired cereal or oatmeal, which will be donated to the Plymouth Food Pantry.
Past events have seen 800 to more than 1,000 boxes collected, and this year, organizers have set their goal at 1,000 boxes.
Once all donations are collected, each school will set up all its boxes like dominoes to be toppled.
However, whichever school collects the most boxes will win the ultimate prize of hosting a topple of every single box collected by all seven schools.
Last year, Horizon Elementary School won the Cereal Box Domino Challenge, collecting 572 of the 1,023 boxes collected.
Community members are also encouraged to join in the giving effort, and donations can be brought to the Community Ed & Rec Office between 7:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
