A large police presence was required to take a man into custody in Manitowoc over the weekend.
The criminal complaint notes that eight members of the Manitowoc Police Department responded to a weapons call at 4:30 Sunday morning after a resident claimed a 37-year-old man had threatened them with a handgun.
A perimeter was set up in the area of Columbus, South 17th, and South 15th Streets as the officers attempted to locate the suspect.
The officers had guns drawn, including rifles, due to the uncertainty of whether the man was still armed.
He was later seen in an upstairs bedroom, but did not respond to several attempts to get him out of the home.
Police eventually used the victim’s cellphone to call the man, who then exited without further incident.
The victim told police that they had come home from work to find the man sleeping in the basement.
When the victim woke the man up, he became angry and reportedly pointed the “dangerous end” of a handgun at the victim’s head.
He also allegedly pushed the victim to the ground at one point, causing the victim to be cased for their life.
The man was arrested on charges of Disorderly Conduct and 1st Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety, each with Domestic Violence enhancers, and was given a 72-hour no-contact order.
