The Wisconsin DNR is taking entries for an annual contest.
The 18th annual Great Waters Photo Contest and Writing Project highlights the many ways people connect with and value the Great Lakes and the Mississippi River.
Eligible entries include photos of Lake Michigan, Lake Superior, or the Mississippi River in Wisconsin, as well as short essays, stories, or poems around 200 words.
Pictures of all seasons are needed and can be of people enjoying the water, cultural and historical features, natural features, or wildlife.
They have to be inspired by Wisconsin’s water, which can take the form of a project or partnership to help protect or restore areas.
Photos and written entries must be sent to DNRGreatWatersPhotoContest@wisconsin.gov by April 1st and must include a name, address, phone number, and email.
Judging will be completed by a panel of DNR staff members, with the top photos and writing to be added in the next Wisconsin Great Waters Calendar.
