More details have come to light in a shooting in Manitowoc Monday morning (February 9th).
The Manitowoc Police Department has released the criminal complaint, which notes that officers were called to the 2000 block of Johnston Drive at 6:30 a.m. on a report of a shooting.
The first officers on the scene located the suspect, 29-year-old Julia N. Gundt, and attempted to take her into custody.
Because she was resisting, the officers were required to use a WRAP device, which is designed to restrict the movement of individuals who are making a traditional arrest difficult.
She was eventually subdued, and officers went into the residence where they found the victim, who was said to have sustained a gunshot wound to his ankles.
The unnamed individual was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
A search of the residence uncovered a firearm hidden under a bed near where the victim was found. Bullet holes were located in the bathroom door and the westernmost wall, and it was determined that the door was closed at the time of the shooting.
Detectives then began interviewing the victim, who noted that he and the suspect were in a relationship and were hanging out the night prior at the residence.
He said Gundt had passed out due to alcohol consumption, which she continued the next morning as he was getting ready for work at around 5:00 a.m.
The two began to argue, which led to Gundt allegedly throwing items at the victim.
At some point, she took a firearm belonging to the victim and began threatening him with it.
He continued to get ready for work in the bathroom, which is when he heard a loud bang and realized he had been struck.
He called 911, but due to a severe amount of blood loss, he was unable to answer many of dispatch’s questions.
Gundt has been charged with six counts of 1st Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety, as she had allegedly fired the weapon on two separate occasions with three victims present each time, and two counts of Disorderly Conduct with Domestic Violence Enhancers.
