
It was a great weekend for athletes from Kiel High School.
The Kiel Dance team competed at the WACPC State Dance Competition in La Crosse, faring quite well. The team earned 2nd place in the Kick competition, 3rd in Jazz, and 4th in Pom, while Seniors Aubrey Loveland, Annika Liermann, and Carson Woods earned All-State honors for their solo performances Friday night.
Meanwhile, the Boys Swim Team participated in the EWC Championship meet Saturday in Two Rivers, featuring four teams.
The tri-op of Brillion, Valders, and Chilton dominated, earning 161 points, followed by Kiel/Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah with 72 points. Berlin/Green Lake was third with 49, and Two Rivers/Roncalli was fourth with 35.
Kiel/Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah, despite only having four competitors, was right there in every event, finishing the night with five silver medals. The Raiders did earn gold in two events, including Aaron Federwisch in the 100 freestyle, and Kuai Lueck, whose time in the 100 backstroke was five seconds faster than the next closest swimmer.
BVC, meanwhile, swept gold in all three relay events, with Ethan Kuka, Killian Armstrong, William Deehr, and Adam Bunnell taking the 200 Medley Relay, while Kevin Halverson, Jake Propson, Deagan Scheider, and Bunnell claimed the 200 freestyle relay, and Halverson, Armstrong, Deehr, and Bunnell won the 400 freestyle relay.
Halverson also brought home gold in the 200 freestyle and 100 butterfly, while Bunnell won the 50 free, Armstrong claimed the 100 breaststroke, and Eliot Wieting earned gold in the diving event.
BVC also took the top two spots in the 200 Individual Medley, thanks to strong performances from Armstrong and Deehr, and the 500 freestyle, with Ty Bueschel and Scheider earning gold and silver.
