The family of an 84-year-old woman who froze to death last winter is suing the assisted living center where it happened for wrongful death. Investigators say Alice McGaw likely died of hypothermia. A lawyer for McGaw’s family filed suit in Dane County Circuit Court Thursday morning saying administrators at Faith Gardens Memory Care in Sun Prairie knew McGaw had a history of wandering around and walking outside. They say the facility allowed her to leave the building in freezing temperatures and freeze to death. The suit alleges Faith Gardens was negligent and breached the standard of care.
