It’s been a very exciting last few years at Manitowoc Lutheran High School, with many student-athletes enjoying success both academically and athletically.
The latest pertains to The Lancers’ girls dance team as they perform at the varsity state high school dance competition in La Crosse today.
Led by coach Abby Bosin, Manitowoc Lutheran punched its first ticket to the “big show” by shining in regional competition last week, something Bosin tells seehafernews.com hasn’t yet quite sunk in.
“We’re all very excited. It’s going to be a new experience for us as a team,” she predicted. “Maddy went as a soloist last year, so we got to experience it on a smaller level, but I’m very excited for the team to experience this on a whole new level.”
Bosin refers to sophomore Maddy Wusterbarth, who performed as a soloist during her freshman year in La Crosse.
“I’m just very excited we get to share the floor together using my gifts and abilities I’ve been given and showing other people how much,” she told SeehaferNews.com. “I love dance and how it makes me feel.”
The Lancers will compete in Division Six Poms, and junior Camille Schroeder says she can’t wait to dance on that stage.
“It’s exciting. We’re the first in school history to go to state,” she said. “I can’t wait to show people all the hard work we’ve put in to get to this point.”
Junior Manager Brooke Heilman plays an important role in the Lancers’ success.
“I help Miss Bosin and I’m also the team cheerleader,” she explained. “I love seeing them accomplish what they work so hard for every day.”
That work began in the summer with early morning practices, along with keeping up academically and other philanthropic causes these kids are involved in.
Sophomore Anya Hochmuth says they’ve only scratched the surface of their potential, telling us, “We have so much potential still left in us and I can’t wait to see what we can accomplish in the next few years.”
Coach Bosin agrees 100 percent and admits today is bittersweet.
“We just have the best time together,” she noted. “It’s sad that it’s coming to an end, but this is just the best thing to happen and to be able to have one last fun hoorah of what’s been a very successful season.”
