Some nonprofit organizations in eastern Wisconsin have earned grant funding from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.
They included the Friends of Point Beach State Forest in Two Rivers, which is getting funding for a second-phase update to a playground.
The Friends of High Cliff State Park in Calumet County will also receive funding for the third-phase update to the Lime Kiln Trail Remediation, while the Friends of Kohler-Andrae State Park will receive funding for a phase-two update to an amphitheater.
The Friends of Peninsula State Park and Kettle Moraine Inc. are also receiving a share of more than $499,000 for 32 projects funded by Stewardship grant dollars.
The money comes from the Knowles-Nelson Stewardship Fund, which was created to preserve natural communities, protect water quality, and expand opportunities for outdoor recreation.
$500,000 from the program is set aside each year for grants.
