The Manitowoc County Historical Society is hosting a special weekend event.
A Winter Weekend program takes place next Saturday (February 14th) from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., featuring demonstrations and stories of the past shared in wood-stove-heated historic structures.
Interpreters will share demonstrations and stories of the past in different historic structures, with activities focused on Victorian-era romance, including making a vintage valentine.
The blacksmith shop will be open to teach attendees the basics of forging steel and move on to making hearts to be shared with someone special.
Another activity will get the kids involved, as they can learn the basics of wood stove cooking and make kid-friendly recipes while doing hands-on tasks.
Registration is required in advance for that activity and for a historic meal at the Meeme House.
People can also join in an afternoon of sledding down the hill at Niles Church, but you have to bring your own.
Admission to the event is $10 for adults, $5 for children ages 4-17, and children under 4 get in free.
