A Manitowoc man charged with hitting a motorcyclist before fleeing the scene will change his plea.
Court records show that 36-year-old Steven Behnke is now scheduled for a plea and sentencing hearing on April 9th, as he faces six charges.
They include hit and run involving great bodily harm, knowingly operating while revoked, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, carrying a concealed weapon, failure to install an ignition interlock device, and resisting and obstructing an officer.
Manitowoc Police and EMS were called to the intersection of South 10th and Washington Street in May last year on a report of a motorcyclist who was struck by a vehicle.
The rider was taken to a hospital in Green Bay because of his injuries. Police identified Behnke as the suspect after a piece of the vehicle that fled had a VIN on it.
Behnke allegedly said he was in Sheboygan at the time of the crash; however, surveillance footage showed he was at a local collision shop, where he dropped off the vehicle before walking away.
