Two people were injured after an explosion in the Town of Cato.
Valders Fire and Rescue was called to the reported explosion on Tuesday (January 27th) just after 5:45 p.m. at a residence on Pieschel Lane.
Upon arrival, fire and emergency crews determined that a gas leak caused the explosion and that two people sustained injuries.
One person was treated at the scene while another was taken to a local hospital for further care.
Their injuries are non-life-threatening.
Valders Fire Chief Christopher Dallas explains that fire crews secured the residence and remained on the scene for two hours to safely remove residual gas and monitor levels within the structure.
Crews then conducted atmospheric testing to make sure the area was safe before leaving.
Chief Dallas concludes that there is no ongoing threat to the public and that the investigation into the explosion remains ongoing.
