A Manitowoc man has been arrested after stealing thousands of dollars worth of merchandise from Menards.
An officer with the Manitowoc Police Department received a call on Friday (January 23rd) from an employee at the Menards Corporate Office in Eau Claire, claiming an employee at the Manitowoc store located on Calumet Avenue stole a large quantity of goods while on the job.
The caller continued to tell police that, via surveillance cameras, he witnessed a 23-year-old stocker stealing items.
The video supplied to the officer showed the 23-year-old select items off the shelves at Menards, place them in a shopping cart, and take them out to his vehicle without paying.
Further evidence showed the employee did this on 15 separate occasions between October 16th of last year and January 10th, totaling over $5,300 in stolen goods.
On Saturday (January 24th), Manitowoc Police responded to Menards to make contact with the suspect.
Once found, the 23-year-old was arrested and charged with one count of Retail Theft, $5,000 – $10,000.
Upon his arrest, the suspect was transported to the Manitowoc County Jail.
