A young author in our area has stepped up to help those facing hunger in the community.
Nathan, an 8-year-old boy from the Sheboygan area whose mother works for Sargento Cheese, recently wrote a book entitled Sarge Saves the Day.
This book features Sarge, the Sargento mascot, as well as Louie Gentine, the company’s CEO and Chairman.
Throughout the holiday season, Sargento employees and others purchased the book in order for Nathan to collect donations to support various charitable initiatives in the area.
After collecting the proceeds from his book sales, Nathan chose to donate a portion of those funds to the Sheboygan County Food Bank to support those in the area facing food insecurity.
Last week, the Food Bank invited Nathan, his mother Takiyah, and Gentine to their headquarters to honor his charitable giving and show their heartfelt appreciation.
In their thanks, the Sheboygan County Food Bank stated, “We’re grateful for this young author’s creativity, kindness, and generosity. Way to go, Nathan!”
