A traffic stop in the City of Manitowoc led to the arrest of one individual on numerous charges.
An officer with the Manitowoc Police Department witnessed a vehicle speeding in the 3400 block of Calumet Avenue at approximately 1:00 a.m. on Wednesday (January 21st).
After seeing the vehicle cross completely over the center line, nearly causing a head-on collision with an oncoming SUV, a traffic stop was conducted.
During the stop, the driver, a 23-year-old Manitowoc man, showed visible signs of intoxication.
Once out of the vehicle, the 23-year-old was uncooperative and was handcuffed for safety.
A pat-down frisk was then conducted, and the officer located a vape device in the suspect’s pocket, which he said was containing legal THC.
He was then transported to the Police Station, where he conducted a field sobriety test, which he failed.
A further search of his person uncovered a baggie containing seven blue pills, which the 23-year-old admitted were Adderall, for which he does not have a prescription. During a subsequent search of his vehicle, authorities located one gram of marijuana, two additional THC vapes, a glass pipe, and other drug paraphernalia.
As a result of the arrest, the 23-year-old was charged with OWI, Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and resisting an Officer.
